Engineered Strand Lumber Research

The guys on this old house mentioned using ESL (Engineered Strand Lumber) because it is not prone to shrinking and warping.

The concern with this is the amount of formaldehyde in the product.   I contacted Weyerhaeuser and they seem to be producing products with low levels of the chemical - as found from the links in their e-mail response:
